Do you feel a palpable cringe in your body when your recall
an embarrassing moment from your youth?
What is that feeling?
Haptic Memory is an immersive experience that connects audio narratives with haptic reactions to bring awareness to the impact of our memories' mind/body connection.
Sometimes those memories are so traumatic that we disassociate. What is it like to reintroduce that memory and notice your body's hidden protective behaviors?
Other times, those memories are so sweet that they become the pinnacle of how we measure our happiness. Even if the people associated are no longer relevant in our lives, why do our bodies hold on to the feeling?
The prototype of Haptic Memory investigates our psychosomatic sensations.
How these reactions are brought to life relies completely on the computation of the wearable vest in an effort to authentically express the depth of these stories where words fall short.
No matter the narrator's experience, similar sensations reoccurred in the process of haptic scoring: racing heart, ringing in the ears, change in temperature, and butterflies in the stomach -- leading to expansive questions about the universal processes of internalizing past experiences beyond the imagination.
